Play That Sells reviews the software behind video that sells: VSL players and video hosting, webinar platforms, and the funnel and tracking tools that carry a video from the first play to the cart. We judge every tool on one question. Does it help the video make the sale?
Where the evidence comes from
For what a tool is, what it does, what it costs and who it competes with, the source of truth is the vendor's own site: its homepage, pricing page, docs and comparison pages. We read those first, and we record the date we checked a price, because prices go stale quietly.
For how a tool holds up in real use, we read what long-term users report in public: Reddit and Hacker News threads, and reviews on G2, Capterra and Trustpilot. When we quote someone, it is a verbatim excerpt that links back to the thread, so you can read it in context and disagree with our reading of it.
What we do not do
- We do not run paid campaigns inside every tool. We are not going to pretend we spent a month buying media through each one. We say what we actually did.
- We do not score tools out of ten. A single number invites arguing over decimals and hides the thing that matters, which is fit.
- We do not take payment to rank a tool higher, and no vendor sees a verdict before it publishes.
How we rank
Rankings are ordinal. Each tool gets one clear job it does better than the rest, and we name the buyer it is not for. That order is set from the evidence, before any commercial conversation. A tool that pays us nothing can and does outrank one that pays us something.
One real drawback, always
Every review names at least one thing the tool gets wrong, in plain words, with the context that makes it fair. A page that only praises is a page that has stopped being useful. If a review reads like an ad, we failed and we want to hear about it.

Keeping it current
Pricing and features change. Each tool page shows the date we last checked, and money pages carry a dated log of edits. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did.
